East Bay restaurant in century-old building faces imminent closure

A historic Emeryville restaurant may pour its last drinks Saturday unless the operators of the 100-year-old building can find a lender.

Townhouse Emeryville, a bar and grill originally built in 1929 as a speakeasy, announced this week that Saturday would be its last day of operation, citing “the realities of changing times in the restaurant industry and our community.”

But business owner Dan Seng isn’t giving up. He’s seeking $2 million from a private lender to purchase the property, which has been owned by a local family for decades…
