Concord police warn of surge in vehicle and home burglaries

(KRON) — Police in Concord said Monday they are investigating an uptick in burglaries involving homes and vehicles, along with attempted car thefts throughout the city.

In a community alert, the Concord Police Department advised that current favorite targets of thieves include Lexus, Honda and Acura vehicles, pickup trucks, work trucks and contractor vehicles. Some thieves have been known to target tools and construction equipment left inside vehicles, authorities said.

“Criminals often target unlocked vehicles and visible property,” Concord police wrote. “Even a few minutes unattended can provide an opportunity for theft.”
