Thousands of Pacific Gas and Electric Co. customers lost power in San Francisco on Thursday for the second straight day, disrupting several west-side and central neighborhoods before service was mostly restored by early afternoon.
Shortly before 11:30 a.m., PG&E’s outage center listed nearly 4,189 customers without power across 15 outages. Most of those customers — 3,968 — were affected by unplanned outages, while 221 were tied to planned maintenance, according to the utility’s outage center.

The San Francisco Department of Emergency Management said the large unplanned outage affected PG&E customers in parts of Golden Gate Park, Inner Sunset, Haight-Ashbury, Mount Sutro and Castro.
Sunset District Supervisor Alan Wong said in a social media post that a small portion of his neighborhood was also affected. Wong said PG&E initially reported about 4,862 customers affected, with about 3,996 still without power as restoration efforts continued…
