One of S.F.’s most popular sourdough bakeries is temporarily closed after fire

A fire early Monday morning has temporarily shut down The Mill, a beloved San Francisco café and bakery operation that supplies many local stores and restaurants with bread.

The fire began sometime before 2:30 a.m. at The Mill at 736 Divisadero St., a café that also houses Josey Baker Bread, which is known for its sourdough bread. No employees were present and no one was hurt during the fire, according to Josey Baker, who runs the bakery and co-owns the café with Jodi Geren and Tal Mor, also of Four Barrel Coffee and Loquat in San Francisco.

“We are extremely grateful to say nobody was harmed,” Baker wrote in a text message. “Thank you to our amazing community for the support and profound thanks to SFFD for containing the fire.”…
