San Francisco gets new 13-mile trail through national parks

A new cross-city trail linking some of San Francisco’s greatest landmarks is debuting this week: the 13-mile Golden Gate Dozen.

The Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, in tandem with the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, introduced the project Wednesday as a fresh way to hike, bike or run to 12 national park sites in San Francisco, including the Presidio, Lands End and Ocean Beach.

The urban trail, which follows existing trails, sidewalks and streets, starts at Crissy Field on the north side of the city and steers roughly west along the bay shore, before turning south and running along the city’s oceanfront, ending at Fort Funston…
