SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Flaring violence between criminal street gangs this summer triggered police to launch a surveillance operation that resulted in several arrests, the San Francisco Police Department said.
“Over the past month there have been multiple Bay Area homicides that were possibly relatedto San Francisco gang members. Due to this uptick in gang violence, members of the SFPDViolence Reduction Team began surveilling known gang areas believed to be associatedwith these homicides to prevent any further violence,” the police department wrote Monday.
