(KRON) — Two parolees were arrested last month after they were caught running an illegal chop shop in East Oakland, according to the California Highway Patrol Golden Gate Division.
CHP said its Alameda County Regional Auto Theft Taskforce (ACRATT) was helping the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation do parole compliance checks on July 30 when they uncovered the operation at the undisclosed location.
“ACRATT assumed the investigation and recovered numerous stolen vehicle parts and tools, two stripped stolen vehicles, a loaded privately manufactured (“ghost”) rifle, ammunition, and an Autel key programming device (commonly used in vehicle thefts),” said authorities in a social media post Tuesday.
The unidentified suspects were arrested and booked into the Santa Rita Jail on several charges, including operating a chop shop, vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, and parole violations…
