Heavy police presence at South Shore Center in Alameda

(KRON)– The Alameda Police Department responded at 1:15 p.m. Saturday to a parking lot at the South Shore Center after a report of gunfire.

Video from a KRON4 producer shows multiple officers on the scene, as police swarmed the TJ Maxx at the shopping center.

According to investigators, “a victim had been approached by an individual who demanded their property. When the victim refused, a struggle ensued. A Good Samaritan who witnessed the incident attempted to intervene and assist the victim. During the struggle, a firearm was produced and discharged once, striking the Good Samaritan in the leg.”

APD said the first victim was treated and released at the scene, while the Good Samaritan was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was taken into custody at the scene and then taken to a local hospital…
