SF navigation center employees helped man who shot police officer: SFPD

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Two employees of a city-contracted navigation center were arrested for allegedly helping a man hide from police after he shot a San Francisco Police Department officer in the line-of-duty, Police Chief Derrick Lew announced Friday.

The suspected gunman, Norris Reed III, hid inside the navigation center immediately after he shot an officer on May 31, according to SFPD. When fellow officers were searching for the armed attempted murder suspect, one of the center’s employees lied to the officers to prevent them from finding Reed. A second employee gave Reed new clothes to change into, apparently to use as a disguise.

SFPD identified the arrested navigation center employees as: 36-year-old Oliver Barcenas and 45-year-old Erika Porter. They were booked into jail on suspicion of harboring an attempted murder suspect…
