It’s been a rough summer at Harbor Bay Landing.
In early June, an employee of La Val’s Pizza fell through the kitchen floor. Another La Val’s employee, who spoke with the Alameda Post and asked to remain anonymous, said that the front door to the walk-in refrigerator could not close due to the floor all of a sudden being misaligned. About two weeks later, a crack in the floor had appeared near the back door of the refrigerator.
“It’s not, like, a hairline crack. It was more like a crack where the other side of the crack got lower by maybe two inches,” the employee said.
A week later, a co-worker fell through the floor as it gave way and was rushed to Highland Hospital in Oakland. According to the employee, the owner of La Val’s, Salem Kaileh, then shut down the restaurant…
