A long spell of warm Bay Area weather — teetering on heat wave territory — will begin Tuesday and possibly last into mid-October. At first, temperatures will be capped in the 90s even in the hottest areas, through Oct. 3. The heat may creep up a notch toward triple-digit territory the second week of the month.
For San Franciscans longing for a long stretch of pleasant weather, this is about as good as the forecast gets. Downtown San Francisco may not see a day below 70 degrees for at least the next 10 days. The city could briefly hit 80 some days, but 90s are unlikely.

Temperatures spike Tuesday
A warm burst of northerly winds will clear out the fog and push temperatures upward across the Bay Area on Tuesday.
