Last call for beloved Alameda beer spot, The Rake

(KRON) — The Rake Pub in Alameda and the Admiral Maltings malthouse it occupies will both close next month, after nearly a decade on Alameda Point. Admiral Maltings, which provides handcrafted malt for craft breweries across the Bay Area and beyond, will close this Friday.

The Rake, a unique taproom and brewpub that’s a regular hangout for brewers, bartenders and other members of the craft brewing industry, will shut down a few weeks later, on Sunday, Oct. 18.

On the former Alameda Naval Air Station, where there are no less than three breweries, The Rake Pub was unique. While Almanac, Faction and Humble Sea serve primarily beer brewed under their own respective brands, The Rake featured a constantly rotating selection of taps featuring beers from dozens of different breweries made with Admiral Maltings malt…
