SF home sells for $7M over asking, nearly double the list price

A San Francisco home has sold for nearly double its asking price, the latest example of the city’s ultra-hot luxury market.

The sprawling house at 2 Sixth Ave. closed at $15 million, $7 million over its initial $8 million asking price. It was put on the market on Sept. 17 for only the second time ever.

Spanning 4,490 square feet — by most standards disqualifying it from the moniker “mansion” — the four-bedroom, four-bathroom property was built in 1914, with its original owners maintaining it for 70 years. In 1984, it sold for the first time ever to residents who lived there until now…
