Oakland homicide Tuesday morning being investigated by OPD

( KRON ) — The Oakland Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred early Tuesday morning. Officers responded to multiple ShotSpotter activations just before 4 a.m. in the 2000 block of 23rd Avenue, police said.

Officers arrived at the scene to find a victim who sustained gunshot wounds. The Oakland Fire Department and paramedics responded. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to OPD.

Oakland PD Homicide Section investigators responded and took over the investigation. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending next of kin, police said.

Tuesday’s incident follows another incident on Monday morning when a man was shot and killed in the 2100 block of Myrtle Street.

That incident is also being investigated as a homicide.
