Another Oakland airport hotel will become permanent supportive housing soon, thanks to a $20 million award from the state. Under California’s Homekey program, the Quality Inn on Enterprise Way will turn into 77 apartments for formerly homeless adults and 26 for transitional-aged youth-young adults who are 18-24 and aging out of the foster care system. Around 15% of homeless people in Oakland have been in the foster care system at one point, and transitional-aged youth make up about 6% of the city’s unhoused population.
