Benicia police pose as tool shoppers, 1 arrested

( KRON ) – A man was arrested for stealing power tools and attempting to sell the tools online on Thursday, the Benicia Police Department said.

On Feb. 1, Benicia police officers and detectives conducted an undercover operation for a tool burglary from a vehicle the month prior in the 400 block of Columbus Parkway. According to the police investigation, the tools were found being sold on an online market forum.

Suspect in chase that led to elderly man being crushed to death arrested

Benicia officers and detectives conducted a sting operation to purchase the tools. The suspect was arrested after arriving at the scene. Officers recovered numerous power tools that were positively identified as belonging to the victim. The recovered tools were returned to the victim.

The suspect was identified as 37-year-old Adrian Gogaj.

Police said Gogaj was in possession of fentanyl.

Gogaj was arrested and booked into Solano County Jail.
