After arson fire, California firefighters remind Super Bowl revelers fireworks are illegal in city

As the excitement builds for Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, February 11, 2024, the San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD) is collaborating with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, as well as partner city agencies, to ensure the safety and well-being of the public during the highly anticipated event.

In preparation for the San Francisco 49ers’ appearance in the Super Bowl, the SFFD has taken proactive measures to address potential emergencies. The department is adequately staffed to respond to all emergency calls for service citywide, and additional resources are being prepositioned to respond promptly to any unforeseen incidents that may arise.

The SFFD is urging residents and visitors to prioritize safety during Super Bowl festivities. For those traveling to friends or public locations, the department recommends considering the use of public transportation. However, if driving is necessary, individuals are advised to plan for a designated driver, establish a meeting point in case of separation, and ensure they have essentials such as food, water, and appropriate clothing for varying weather conditions. Those taking medications are encouraged to carry extra supplies in case of delays.
