Rain returns this weekend in the Bay Area

( KRON ) – Winter is not completely over in the Bay Area. According to the National Weather Service, a cold front and rainfall are expected from 11 p.m. on Friday through 11 p.m. on Saturday.

San Francisco and the North Bay are forecasted to receive half of an inch to one inch of rain, according to the NWS.  The valleys are predicted to have less rain. However, the Santa Cruz Mountains coastal range is projected to receive up to 1.25 inches.

Officer in critical condition after shootout Thursday night

According to KRON4’s meteorologist John Shrable, residents should expect “a wet day from start to finish.” Shrable said the rain will begin Friday night, however it will pick up after sunrise on Saturday.

For safety, residents should allow additional travel time and maintain a fair distance between vehicles.

According to NWS, dry weather will return on Sunday morning. According to Shrable, the weather will gradually get warmer into next week.
