( KRON ) — A 53-year-old man was shot in Antioch on Friday afternoon. The gunshot wound later led him to undergo surgery, the Antioch Police Department said.
Antioch police investigate 10 recent robberies targeting bank visitors
Police said they responded to calls of a man getting shot in the 800 block of West Second Street at about 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
Upon arriving at the scene, police said they located the victim suffering from “at least” one gunshot wound. “Officers immediately rendered first aid until they were relieved by paramedics,” Antioch PD said.
The 53-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital, where he underwent surgery. Police said he is in “critical condition” but is expected to survive.
Based on their investigation, police believe the shooting was a “domestic incident.” Police said they are actively working on the case and that no further information will be released.
