Waymo: Driverless Taxi Service Opens To Public In San Francisco

The driverless taxi service Waymo said it’s now available to anyone who wants to use the service. A similar venture has been used in Phoenix, Arizona, since 2020.

Waymo has been doing controlled rides in San Francisco with experts and people who have signed up early for the service. Waymo, which is owned by Alphabet (Google), has been a leader in driver-less technology. They are based in Mountain View, California, in Silicon Valley.

Anyone needing a driverless ride in San Francisco can use the Waymo-One app. You can download the app and use it like every other ride-sharing account.

What to Expect:

The experience is definitely unique, but it is also a wave of the future.

The robotaxi service is going to be an interesting competition for Uber and Lyft. The app actually works a lot like other ride-sharing apps. You put in the address of where you want to go, the app gives you a price, and then you accept or reject it. You will be able to do multiple stops and roundtrips if needed.

And like most products these days, you will have to have a Google account to use it. If you don’t, you will need to sign up for one.
