Big rig fire blocks lanes on eastbound I-80 in Crockett

( KRON ) — There is a big rig fire in the eastbound lanes of I-80 in Crockett, according to the California Highway Patrol. The vehicle fire, which is west of San Pablo Avenue just past the Pomona Street exit, is blocking the left lane, right lanes and exit ramp.

The CHP is advising motorists to expect delays, use alternate routes and avoid the area. There is no estimated time to reopen the roadway.

Photos from the scene showed a big rig pulled over to the side of the highway with flames emanating out of the trailer. The Crockett-Carquinez Fire Department is advising drivers to “expect extended traffic impacts.”

There was no immediate word on what caused the fire or if anyone was injured.
