Raiders Rejected Jakobi Meyers Trade Offer

The NFL trade deadline is still several weeks away, but that doesn’t mean teams haven’t thought about making any moves yet. The Las Vegas Raiders and San Francisco 49ers are two teams to have reportedly had discussions regarding a potential trade involving WR Jakobi Meyers.

The San Francisco Chronicle’s Mike Silver reports a couple of interesting things here. First, and most obvious, San Francisco allegedly made an offer for Meyers, which the Raiders ended up rejecting.

There are a couple reasons why San Francisco might want to acquire Meyers. Obviously, there’s the tragic situation with their rookie, Ricky Pearsall being shot, but Brandon Aiyuk only recently came back to the team after his long holdout as well.

With both of those two in mind, there are some reasons San Francisco might have made this move. However, Silver interestingly points out that Las Vegas is focusing on stockpiling assets for next year’s draft, as they hope to land a quarterback.

Now, Meyers likely wouldn’t land a first round pick in return, if we’re being realistic. A return for him would be closer to one of the middle rounds, but that could definitely be useful if Las Vegas is thinking about trading up next spring.
