In a historic move, over 100 Amazon workers at the DCK6 warehouse in San Francisco have officially formed a union with the Teamsters, marking the first time a group of Amazon warehouse workers has sought union recognition outside the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) election process. The workers, demanding better pay, safer working conditions, and a stronger voice on the job, launched a “March on the Boss” early this morning to call for union recognition from Amazon, the union stated.
Amazon employees at DCK6, many of whom work part-time without basic benefits, have been organizing since last year, according to the union. Jocelyn Vargas, a fellow warehouse worker, emphasized their essential role in delivering goods and highlighted the need for good pay and benefits to support their own families.
