Napa County DA Not Charging Deputy Over Shooting of Teen in Vallejo

The Napa County District Attorney’s Office will not file charges against a Napa County Sheriff’s deputy who shot a fleeing teen twice during a foot chase in north Vallejo. D.A. Allison Haley says Deputy Joshua Coleman reasonably believed Rogers Vaughn, who was 18-years-old at the time, was posing an imminent threat of serious bodily injury or death. It was the fifth on-duty shooting of Coleman’s career. Vaughn later pleaded guilty to carrying a loaded gun not registered to him, which is a felony, and resisting or obstructing a peace officer, which is a misdemeanor.
