Seldom used bike lane on California toll bridge to close for repairs, electrical work

Cyclists planning to use the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge should be aware of upcoming bike lane closures due to routine maintenance and electrical work, starting this Sunday, October 20.

Caltrans has announced that the bike lane will be closed nightly from 9 PM to 5 AM on Sunday for regular maintenance, which includes a monthly wall move and bridge sweeping. Then, from Tuesday, October 22 through Thursday, October 24, additional closures will occur from 7:30 AM to 2 PM each day for electrical work on the bike lane lights.

To ensure that cyclists can still get across the bridge during these times, shuttle services will be provided at the Stenmark Drive Bridge entrance and Vista Point in San Rafael. Caltrans also advises motorists to watch out for speed limit reductions to 40 mph in the construction zones.

Cyclists are encouraged to plan ahead and stay informed about the closure schedule to avoid disruptions. Shuttle services will help ease the impact, but riders should remain cautious in the work zones.
