Cris Collinsworth Under Fire for Controversial Comments About 49ers WR

It’s getting to the point where NBC commentator Cris Collinsworth is rubbing fans the wrong way with some of his off-color comments during his “Sunday Night Football” broadcasts.

This time the former Cincinnati Bengals receiver found himself in hot water after making some remarks about San Francisco 49ers rookie WR Ricky Pearsall during the team’s 30-24 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday that many fans found to be in poor taste.

“He’s not lightning fast, but he’s fast,” Collinsworth said . “He’s not the greatest receiver in the world, but he’s made some sensational catches going back to his days at the University of Florida. Most of all, we’re just glad he’s OK after what happened to him. One of the most frightening experiences for a young man that you could ever have.”

Collinsworth’s remarks are just flat-out untrue. Pearsall ran a 4.41 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL combine, tied for the 10th-fastes among all WRs.

But a majority of people took exception to Collinsworth’s comments because they came across as insensitive given Pearsall is just a few weeks removed from getting shot in the chest during an attempted robbery and Sunday’s game was just the second time he’s taken the field this season, and fans weren’t afraid to drag Collinsworth for what he said on social media.
