88 MPH wind recorded in Northern California region ravaged by several days of strong gusts

San Francisco Bay Area, CA – The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the Bay Area and interior Central Coast, in effect until 7 AM Thursday. Strong offshore winds and critically dry conditions are creating a heightened fire risk across the region, with gusts of 30-40 mph expected in higher elevations through Wednesday evening.

Wind gusts reached as high as 88 mph at Mt. St. Helena earlier in the day, while other areas experienced widespread gusts between 35 and 50 mph. Low humidity levels, dropping to 10% in parts of the North Bay, add to the fire danger. The Red Flag Warning will remain in place overnight due to poor humidity recovery, with conditions expected to ease gradually by Thursday morning.

Residents are urged to avoid activities that could spark fires and to stay alert for updates.
