Lafayette, California – Horn Barbecue, an award-winning barbecue restaurant once celebrated as a local treasure in Oakland, has officially relocated to Lafayette. Known for its expertly smoked meats and a Michelin Bib Gourmand rating, the move marks a fresh chapter for the eatery after a turbulent few years.

A New Beginning in Lafayette

The new Lafayette location, replaces a series of barbecue restaurants at the same site. It’s a significant win for the city, with Horn Barbecue’s Michelin recognition and a devoted fan base promising to attract diners from across the Bay Area.

The restaurant, which operates Wednesday through Sunday from 12:00 PM to 9:30 PM, aims to replicate its tradition of exceptional food and warm customer experiences.

A History of Challenges

The transition comes after a series of setbacks, dramas and deep controversy for Horn Barbecue. In November 2023, a fire devastated its Oakland location, which was later investigated as arson. Financial issues have also cast a shadow over the brand. According to an investigative report, owner Matt Horn faces over half a million dollars in lawsuits and wage theft claims.
