(KRON) — Oakland Fire Department crews responded to a building fire at 1900 Broadway on Thursday evening. As of 5:37 p.m., it was brought under control.
OFD believes the fire started in a trash chute, but the cause is under investigation. Units are fighting the fire with water.
There is a large OFD presence in downtown Oakland due to the blaze. Crews first responded before 5:10 p.m.
More than 50 firefighters responded to the fire. There have been no reports of injuries.
AC Transit was not stopping at West Grand Avenue, Thomas L. Berkeley Way, Uptown Transit Center and 17th Street for a period of time Thursday due to the fire response.
