SAN MATEO, California — A 19-year-old San Mateo resident was arrested after allegedly stealing alcohol from a Walgreens and attempting to evade police by hiding under an overpass, according to the San Mateo Police Department.On March 7, 2025, at 1:19 p.m., the San Mateo Police Department received a report from a Walgreens employee on the 100 block of South Ellsworth Avenue about a theft suspect who fled the store on a bicycle. Officers in the vicinity quickly located the suspect, identified as Wilfran PerezGomez, but he ignored commands to stop and continued eastbound toward Highway 101.During the pursuit, PerezGomez injured an officer while attempting to evade capture.
