There was a time when riding BART for seven hours might have seemed like cruel and unusual punishment.
Now it’s a fun thing to do on your day off.

How did we get to this point? I’ll try to answer that question next Thursday, March 20, when I attempt the BART speedrun. The trending challenge — all the cool kids are doing it ! — involves covering the network’s 50 stations across 131.4 miles of track in the shortest time possible. The current record stands at 5 hours, 9 minutes and 35 seconds. I’m just hoping to finish before establishing legal residency on a BART train.
