Dozens of jobs lost as beloved Oakland waterfront hotel closes after 35 years

The closure of the Waterfront Hotel in Oakland, a long-standing landmark in the city’s Jack London Square for 35 years, left 57 employees without work, according to a state filing released Wednesday.

Located at 10 Washington Street, adjacent to the Port of Oakland, the Hyatt-operated boutique hotel stood out with its signature blue lookout tower overlooking the waterfront.
