Giant pandas could arrive in San Francisco by April 2026, if China finalizes the deal

The San Francisco Zoo now expects to receive a pair of giant pandas from China by April next year, if all goes according to plan .

Tanya Peterson, the CEO and executive director of the San Francisco Zoo, announced the new timeline at the San Francisco Recreation and Park Commission meeting Thursday. Peterson said she recently hosted a Chinese Friendship Delegation, a group of Chinese scientists and officials collaborating with the zoo on the plan to bring giant pandas to San Francisco.
