East Oakland residents needing to renew their driver’s licenses and vehicle registration, transfer titles, or get a Real ID before the May 7 deadline, might have a harder time doing this because of a recent break-in at the Coliseum DMV.
According to the Department of Motor Vehicles, when staff showed up to the Coliseum DMV on April 14, they noticed a broken pipe in ceiling, flooding, and stolen wiring from the building and parking lot lights.
The vandalism was bad enough that the DMV decided to temporarily close the Coliseum office. Now DMV officials say it could be up to five months before they can repair and reopen the building to the public…
