A South San Francisco resident won $1 million on a California Lottery Scratchers ticket after a series of smaller prizes over the past year, officials announced Friday.
Javier Sanchez had previously won $1,000 five times over the past year. On the morning of his most recent win, Sanchez attempted to buy tickets at his usual location but was told they were not yet available.
“The attendant was there,” Sanchez told California Lottery officials, “but she told me they weren’t ready. So, I went to another gas station, filled my gas, and went in to purchase some of the Scratchers.”…
