Rookie officer charged following DUI crash, fired from SFPD

The rookie San Francisco officer arrested this weekend following a multi-injury car crash in the Outer Sunset neighborhood has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving causing injury, prosecutors said Tuesday.

The Saturday collision occurred just two days after Ryan Kwong, 28, graduated from the police academy. Kwong is no longer employed with San Francisco police, according to department spokesman Evan Sernoffsky.

The San Francisco District Attorney’s Office charged Kwong with four counts of driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury, four counts of driving under the influence of alcohol with a .08% blood alcohol concentration and three counts of reckless driving causing injury.
