Lawsuit: Walnut Creek police officer shoved pregnant woman and slammed her on the ground

A woman filed a federal lawsuit Tuesday claiming that a Walnut Creek police sergeant and other officers in the city shoved her against their vehicle and slammed her on the ground while she was three months pregnant during an unlawful arrest.

The incident occurred Dec. 7 on Locust Street, where Quynh Tran tried to park in a metered spot, according to the lawsuit.

Walnut Creek Police Sgt. Joseph Coffin and other officers were in plainclothes in an unmarked vehicle when they encountered Tran. According to the lawsuit, Coffin honked and yelled: “Get the f— out of the way. I need to move my car!”…
