Federal immigration officers arrested at least two people Thursday at an immigration court in San Francisco, advocates said.
Advocates from Mission Action SF, a nonprofit organization, and other community groups said at least two arrests by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers occurred around 1:30 p.m. The groups urged people to gather at the courthouse at 630 Sansome St. to protest the arrests.
The arrests come as federal immigration officers have ramped up arrests at immigration courts in the Bay Area. Earlier this week, immigration courts in San Francisco and Concord shut down after another round of arrests prompted protests. On Tuesday, ICE arrested four people and detained a fifth.
