Advocates demand an end to Oakland’s CHP surge after a deadly police chase

In front of the California Highway Patrol’s Oakland office on Telegraph Avenue yesterday morning, representatives from four Oakland civil rights and safe streets advocacy groups demanded an end to Governor Gavin Newsom’s highly publicized surge of state cops in the city.

They said CHP car chases in pursuit of suspects put residents in danger.
