(KRON) — Investigators uncovered more than 1,500 units of illegal fireworks, including professional-grade explosives, at a storage facility in Alameda, announced the Alameda Police Department on Thursday.
APD said a tip about illegal storage and sales led them to the huge discovery just ahead of the July 4th holiday. Fireworks are banned in the City of Alameda.
“The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad was called in to safely remove and transport the material for destruction,” said Alameda PD. “The bomb squad has confirmed this is the largest illegal firework seizure in Alameda County so far this year.”…
