WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA – The Walnut Creek Police Department is responding to the boom in electric bike usage among local youth by hosting a free “Bike Rodeo” safety event this coming weekend.
A local resident brought the issue of e-bikes before Walnut Creek’s City Council, telling SFGate that while some “knuckleheads” probably wouldn’t listen to reason, most e-bike users are well-meaning and just need better education about using their bikes safely.
The event is set for Saturday, July 12 at Civic Park in downtown Walnut Creek, and families are invited to come learn about e-bike safety, have kids practice their riding skills, and even register their bicycles with the police.
