Man who killed person while speeding in Corvette convicted

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – A man driving more than 60 miles above the speed limit in San Francisco’s Bayview District, which resulted in a person’s death, was convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter, said the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office on Tuesday.

Prosecutors say that in October 2019, Valentino Miles was traveling in a rented Chevy Corvette Z06 at least 140 miles per hour down Evans Avenue toward Hunter’s Point Boulevard. According to the DA’s office, Miles was in a 35 mph zone when he made a sharp right turn and could not stay in his lane, which caused him to crash into a vehicle.

The impact resulted in the victim’s car being pushed back approximately 90 feet and ultimately resulted in the victim’s death, according to the prosecutors.
