Temperatures up to 110 degrees are possible in Northern California on Friday as a heat wave brings the hottest weather so far this year to some cities.
Friday is forecast to be the hottest day since last July from Redding to Sacramento, where high temperatures are forecast to reach 105 and 110 degrees, respectively. Winds off the ocean will prevent most of the Bay Area from setting any temperature records, but inland highs in the 90s to near 100 will still be nearly 10 degrees above normal. The cities with the best chance of hitting triple digits Friday are Concord, Livermore, Antioch, Brentwood and Vacaville.

The sea breeze should be a bit stronger Friday than it was Thursday, keeping the San Francisco Peninsula and cities along the bay shoreline slightly cooler. Friday night will be cooler due to the increased onshore flow. Temperatures should drop to the 50s nearly everywhere in the Bay Area, except for elevations above 1,500 feet or so.
A southerly surge of winds Saturday should cool down the Bay Area about 5 to 10 degrees and help clear out the smoky air. However, haze may linger higher in the atmosphere, resulting in orange-tinted sunrises and sunsets through the weekend. Another few degrees of cooling is expected in the Bay Area on Sunday. Fog will gradually push farther inland each morning.
The heat advisory in the northern Sacramento Valley was extended until 11 p.m. Monday, as triple-digit temperatures are expected to continue. Little relief is expected overnight, as lows drop only to the 70s in Redding and Chico. A separate heat advisory is in effect for the San Joaquin Valley from 11 a.m. Friday to 11 p.m. Tuesday for temperatures up to 105 degrees. Triple-digit temperatures are also expected in Lake County and interior Mendocino and Humboldt counties. Ukiah is forecast to reach 105 degrees Friday…
