Court filings provide new details in California parole officer’s shooting death in Oakland

A day before Bryan Hall allegedly fatally shot a parole officer in Oakland last week, Hall failed to show up to a meeting with his parole officer. Instead, Hall showed up the next day, on Thursday, but his parole officer was not at the office, so Hall was asked to leave, according to court filings.

Authorities allege that’s when Hall killed Agent Joshua Byrd inside the state parole office on Edgewater Drive last week.

The details were revealed in Alameda County Superior Court records Monday, as Hall, 48, was charged with murder in Byrd’s death. The shooting occurred just before 1 p.m. Thursday…
