Last week, Richmond Police Department patrol officers arrested a suspect after a seemingly ordinary traffic stop turned up much more than a moving violation. During the stop at 18th St and Chanslor Ave, officers encountered a driver already on the books as a convicted felon. When questioned, the driver admitted to having ammunition but denied the presence of a firearm in the vehicle.
However, the officers’ search of the car brought to light not just a hidden loaded firearm but also an assortment of narcotics. According to a post on the Richmond Police Department’s Facebook page, the narcotics cache included cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, MDMA, and marijuana, all seemingly prepped for sale.
