Sharp 4.3 Magnitude Earthquake Rocks the 925 Overnight With Level 5 Shaking in One Town

WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA – A sharp, early-morning jolt rattled the 925 at 2:56 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, when a magnitude 4.3 earthquake struck near the UC Berkeley campus on the Hayward Fault. The U.S. Geological Survey initially listed the quake as a 4.6 before revising it to 4.3. Shaking was felt widely across the region, including Contra Costa and Alameda counties.

No injuries or significant damage were immediately reported, but the temblor was strong enough to wake residents from Walnut Creek to San Ramon and Concord–including this reporter!
