Shooting suspect arrested as OPD recovers several firearms in six-day span

(KRON) — The Oakland Police Department released photos on Wednesday showing some of the firearms officers seized from suspected criminals in September.

OPD said Ceasefire Unit officers arrested a person Tuesday with an illegal semi-automatic weapon (shown below) during a traffic stop in the 1200 block of 105th Avenue.

Oakland police said patrol officers spotted a firearm in clear sight inside a vehicle Monday in the 1400 block of 80th Avenue. An individual tied to the gun was later located and arrested.

Last Saturday, an investigation into an Aug. 30 shooting near High Street and International Boulevard ended with an arrest, said police.

“Officers arrested the suspect and recovered multiple firearms and evidence linking the suspect to the shooting,” said officials in a news release.

“OPD remains committed to reducing gun violence and keeping our neighborhoods safe,” added police. “Working together, we can make Oakland safer.”…
