Martinez man accused of murdering alleged intruder

(KRON) — Half a year after a Martinez resident killed a man who had entered his home, he is being charged with murder by the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office, police announced Thursday. The resident, 31-year-old Kyle Daniels, initially told Martinez police officers responding to the March 15 incident that the victim was an intruder.

The victim was identified as 41-year-old Oakland resident Dual Moore. Moore had been critically injured by Daniels, according to the Martinez Police Department, to the point of unconsciousness by the time officers arrived. Moore would later be pronounced deceased at a local trauma center.

Daniels had been cooperative in the investigation, authorities said in March. He reportedly told officers that he knew Moore, and that Moore had entered his home without permission.

“In the ensuing months, the Martinez Police Department Investigation Bureau conducted an in-depth investigation with support from the DA’s Office,” police said. That investigation led to an arrest warrant being issued for Daniels. He was taken into custody on Sept. 25…
