Minor Earthquake Recorded Near Mount Diablo High School in Concord, CA

Concord, CA – A light earthquake rattled parts of downtown Concord early Thursday morning, centered just south of Mount Diablo High School, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The magnitude 2.6 quake struck at approximately 3:50 a.m. local time (10:50 UTC), about 2 kilometers west-northwest of downtown Concord. The USGS reports a depth of 16.2 kilometers. Early “Did You Feel It?” responses indicate light shaking across central Concord, Pleasant Hill, and parts of Walnut Creek.

According to data from the California Integrated Seismic Network (CISN), the quake was part of ongoing minor seismic activity across the East Bay region. No damage or injuries have been reported as of Thursday morning, and local officials have not issued any emergency alerts…
