‘Like somebody turned a faucet on’: Union Square buzz is building in SF

San Francisco’s Union Square may be on the precipice of a comeback.

“It’s like somebody turned a faucet on,” said Kazuko Morgan during a recent phone call with SFGATE. The executive vice chairman and broker for Cushman & Wakefield has worked in the neighborhood for over 20 years and said she has watched the area cycle through boom and bust. Now, she’s witnessing what appears to be the beginning of another upswing.

The signs are everywhere, Morgan said. Uniqlo is coming back, and Zara is planning to open a four-story, 40,000-square-foot flagship at 400 Post St. in the new year to replace its smaller location. The stylish eyewear brand Moscot opened at 75 Geary St. in mid-September, and Labubu fanatics were finally satiated when Pop Mart swung open its doors at 200 Powell St. in October…
